Simplifying the Lunchbox with MOMables {Giveaway} - Family Love In My City

Simplifying the Lunchbox with MOMables {Giveaway}

Saturday, September 06, 2014

Recently, the cost for school lunch has gone up at my children's school and those pennies add up when you have almost 180 days of school! It would cost a little over $20 each week to feed my 2 children lunch and with that $20, I could buy so many fresh fruits, vegetables and groceries needed that would also serve as snacks and items we use on a weekly basis at the house.

But what do you pack, right?

That is where MOMables comes in. MOMables was founded by Laura Fuentes, a mom of 3, to solve this dilemma. Her website is filled with free recipes and how-to posts that answer many lunch packing questions.

MOMables also offers a membership for two meal plans: A Classic Meal Plan and a Grain Free Meal Plan. Both are filled with easy to make recipes for busy families and delivered to your inbox every week. Each weekly plan includes 2 family sized meals that can be used as leftovers for lunch and 3 single lunch ideas. The feature I love the most is that there are pictures for many of their meals, especially those that are packed for lunch, so I have a better idea of how easy it is to pack.

Here are some of the meals, I have made for my kids, all inspired after reading through the MOMables website and my weekly meal plans. All three, I was able to make on a Sunday night and keep in the refrigerator. In the morning, I just pop in a lunchbox with an ice pack and a drink and we're out the door!

The meal plans have really helped me, and while I do not make every recipe in the plan, they offer lots of inspiration to make a lunch that I may not have thought of before. To make the whole process seamless, I totally recommend these bento type lunchbox containers from EasyLunchboxes.com and their Insulated Cooler Lunch Bag
